About Craig
Craig has worked with mining and resources professionals and executives for his entire professional life.
And while he has a penchant for, and the skills necessary to solve highly complex tax issues, fundamentally Craig works to provide practical solutions in response to three important and commonly asked questions:
i) Am I paying too much tax?
ii) Are my assets at risk?
iii) And, is this the ‘best’ way?
Thanks to tertiary level mathematics and chartered accountant training, Craig quickly and effectively analyses complex problems and provides plain-English explanations and practical solutions for achieving best possible client outcomes.
Complex analysis aside, Craig is personable, highly organised and well-connected through a significant local and international professional network.
The Tax Partner for William Buck Brisbane, Craig fully embraces the firm’s Changing Lives ethos, offering hands-on involvement that strives to create positive change in his clients’ financial affairs and ultimately their lives.
Dedicated, trustworthy and open to exploring new concepts and approaches, Craig communicates effortlessly with clients and peers who often call upon him to interpret complex tax laws and government mandates.
While tax planning, tax minimisation and business tax strategy are core skills, Craig also advises on specialised tax matters including international tax advice in context of global mobility, employee share schemes, estate planning and audit services.
These and other accounting services are particularly relevant for mining executives and cross-border secondees both inbound and outbound working with junior mining companies and mining, oil and gas enterprises.
Craig has a wide repertoire of clients, including SMEs, listed companies, multinationals, government owned corporations and family groups with complex tax and accounting needs, which demonstrate the breadth of his knowledge and his ability to be flexible and adapt to different client situations.
Personally
Craig clearly has a talent with numbers and it appears he’s not bad with a hammer and paint brush as well. Sharing a 100-year-old Queenslander with his wife Rebecca and two children, weekends are often spent renovating and maintaining the family home.
Born in Townsville, as a youngster Craig spent time in regional Queensland before his family moved to Brisbane where he completed his schooling and attended university. While completing the Chartered Accountants program, Craig recognised his natural affinity for tax which resulted in a Merit award placing his achievements in the top 5 percent of results. He also undertook an Advanced Tax course with the Tax Institute of Australia.
Growing up in a hard-working household, Craig appreciates the sacrifices his parents made by putting family before themselves. Strongly influenced by their example, Craig has adopted this approach as well. And not just for his own family, but for his clients and community.
Few people know that Craig is the recipient of a Police Bravery Award, yet for those who know him it’s not surprising given his strength of character.
While Craig says he’d like to be remembered “as a dedicated and honest professional who helped his clients achieve excellent financial and commercial outcomes” here’s how one of his many business contacts actually remembers him…
“I have worked with Craig on very complicated taxation and superannuation issues and he has never failed to impress me with his knowledge, professionalism and timely delivery of exactly what was needed. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a professional and he is a top bloke too.” Richard D – Legal Practitioner
